Greenpeace USA to unveil "Skull of Satoshi" outside Fidelity's New York City offices to highlight Bitcoin’s Climate Impact
New York, NY (March 27, 2023) - On March 28, 2023, Greenpeace USA activists will bring an 11-foot tall art installation, the "Skull of Satoshi" in front of three of Fidelity's New York City offices. The installation highlights the climate pollution caused by Bitcoin, which relies heavily on coal and has emissions comparable to countries like Portugal. Greenpeace calls on Fidelity to advocate for a code change to reduce Bitcoin's massive energy use by over 99% and mitigate its carbon emissions. Fidelity has refused to meet with Greenpeace to discuss Bitcoin's climate impacts despite the company's Bitcoin investments and its climate goals.
